In October of 2013, USRowing adopted new internal policies surrounding SafeSport and joined the United States Olympic Committee in its SafeSport campaign aimed at raising awareness, stopping child abuse in sport and creating a safe culture in sports programs across the country. USRowings Safe Sport policies apply to all athletes engaged in the sport of rowing. Federal law was enacted in 2017 under the title Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Spot Authorization Act of 2017.
Sagamore Rowing Association fully supports this mission & creating an inclusive environment for all. As of January 2022. USRowing requires that all members over the age of 18 wishing to compete in a US Rowing sanctioned regatta, and all adults having regular contact with junior athletes hold maintain SafeSport certification.
